September is just around the corner, and DCMTB is happy to announce the return of its annual Wednesday night series of cyclocross clinics at Fort Reno Park and our DC-ChiX women’s clinic on October 22 at the Armed Forces Retirement Home.

Wednesday Night CX clinics at Fort Reno

Sept 7-Marc Gwadz (former MABRA Masters 35+ Champion): CX essentials -intro to CX, dismounts and remounts, carries, equipment

Sept 14-Arley Kemmerer (former MABRA Elite Women Champion): DC-ChiX- intro for women

Sept 21-Wes Schempf (former MAC and MABRA Elite Men Champion): finding speed on the course and keeping it- cornering, momentum, run/ride decisions, keeping speed thru barriers

Sept 28Mike Birner (USA Certified Level 2 Cycling Coach from the Sportif Coaching Group and current MABRA Masters 35+ Champion): tricky technical sections- off camber, switchbacks, 180˚ degree turns, mud and sand, starts

*Instructors will be assisted by DCMTB team members

Wednesday clinics start promptly at 6:00 pm at the Fort Reno Park bandstand (Chesapeake St NW, between 40th ST, NW and Nebraska Ave, NW). Please arrive at least 5-10 min early to register.

DC-ChiX clinic at Armed Forces Retirement Home

Saturday, Oct 22 at 2:00 pm

Our second women-only clinic will be at the DCCX race site (Armed Forces Retirement Home - Rock Creek Church Rd, NW & Upshur St, NW). The DCCX race is the next day, Sunday, Oct 23.

Arley Kemmerer will be instructing this session, she will teach you how to handle each section of the DCCX course

All levels of riders are welcome. First timers are encouraged. All you need is a bike with knobby tires and a desire to learn. Please arrive early to register. This is a USA Cycling non-competitive event.

To offset the costs from USA Cycling, we're asking attendees with a USAC license to pay $1 for insurance. If you don’t have a USAC annual license, the fee will be $5 for a one-day non-race license.

*** All riders under 18 years old need to be accompanied by his/her parent/guardian to sign their waiver.
